Treating burns
The showcase:
- 21year old patient, injured during a fire with I,II,III и IV degree burns; treated at the
Plastic Surgery Clinic in the course of three months; discharged on her own request in a
infaust condition - Initially the patient is in a bad condition; has numerous denuded areas all over her
body, extremities and face with lymph leaks, pus and bloody secretion, undernourished
and subjectively in strong and prolonging pain - The patient refuses rehospitalization and a conciliar examination was performed in domestic
surroundings by an anesthesiologist, dermatologist and a plastic surgeon and despite their
recommendation, the patient refused additional hospitalization - Laboratory analysis showed: SE80,leukocytosis, albuminemia, Microbiological Analysis from
several body parts showed: MRSA, Candida Albicans, Candida Lunata, Candida Glabrata,
Enterococcus - Treatment: The patient was immersed in a tub filled with KMnO4 light, pink solution. After that, all
injured areas are covered with sterile gauzes previously impregnated with 20% propolis cream.
The surgical dressings were changed on daily basis. The wounds were fully closed within 20 days
with numerous hypertrophic scars - Further analysis showed no signs of pathological flora
- Blood analysis were normal
The patient continued the treatment in specialized, reconstructive hospitals in Sivas, Turkey and Queen
Victoria Medical Centre, Melbourne, Australia.
